“UK Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011”after Brexit

2021-02-10

After the end of the Brexit Transition on the 1 January 2021, exporting goods to the Great Britain (i.e. England, Wales and Scotland) will be governed by the new UK legislation.

For toys, the relevant UK legislation is: Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011, instead of the previously applied European “Toy Directive” (2009/48/EC).

In support of the said UK Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011, the “Office for Product Safety and Standards and Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy” has published on 9 December 2020 the following consolidated list of designated toy safety standards for that purpose.

Effective Date:

Starting from 1 January 2021, compliance of the relevant listed toy safety standard(s) can be a presumption of conformity with the UK Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011 No. 1881).
